Artists Information

Terms & Conditions

All completed Entry Forms must be in the hands of the Organisers no later than July 16, 2010. No late entries will be accepted.

  1. A non-refundable entry fee of $12.00 inc. GST per submitted painting having an overall area less than 1 square metre and $25.00 inc. GST for each painting having an overall area of 1 square metre or more (including the frame), must accompany the Entry Form. No work submited may have a length on any side greater than 1.4 metres. A maximum of 4 paintings will be accepted for any one entrant unless Organisers invite individual artists to submit more.

  2. Each exhibiting artist will receive one entry pass, valid for any day except opening night. Artists who wish to attend opening night will be required to pay the standard entry fee.

  3. Paintings must be suitable for mounting, correctly marked and labelled on the back with labels that will be supplied to accepted exhibitors, and be ready for hanging with strong wire (flush not protruding) or other professionally approved methods. If the above conditions are not met, paintings may not be exhibited.

  4. The organisers will not meet delivery charges on return of any paintings.

  5. All paintings must be the original work of the Artist and no prints or copies will be accepted.

  6. The Organisers will display selected entries at the Brighton Town Hall, cnr. Wilson and Carpenter Street, Brighton. The Official Opening times will be:
    • Opening Night - Thursday August 5 from 6.30pm - 6.00pm
    • Friday August 6 from 10.00am - 6.00pm
    • Saturday August 7 from 10.00am - 6.00pm
    • Sunday August 8 from 10.00am - 4.00pm

  7. A fee of $30.00 per person to view the show on the opening night (Thursday August 5) and $7 per person at all other times.

  8. The Artist appoints the Organisers as his or her agents for all purposes associated with the exhibition and agrees to allow the Organisers to offer all paintings for sale to the public at the price stated by the Artist on the entry form.

  9. All paintings will be considered for judging. Each painting is only eligible to win one award category.

  10. The Organisers will deduct 25% commission plus GST (i.e. 27.5% incl. GST) from all painting sales. Artists will be paid within 14 days of the closure of the Exhibition.

  11. ALL PAINTINGS MUST BE DELIVERED TO THE BRIGHTON TOWN HALL ON SATURDAY JULY 31st BETWEEN 2:00pm & 5:00pm or SUNDAY AUGUST 1st BETWEEN 1:00 & 4:00pm.

  12. Unsold paintings must be collected from the Town Hall on Monday August 9th from 12 noon until 7.30pm. No responsibility can be taken for uncollected paintings, which will be forfeited one month after the date of the Exhibition.

  13. The Organisers’ and Judges' decisions are final.

  14. The Organizers reserve the right to select which paintings will be displayed during the exhibition. All paintings selected for display will be judged for the prizes advertised. No refunds will be given for paintings not displayed during the exhibition. The Organisers further reserve the right to withdraw any work at any time from the Exhibition.

  15. The Organisers will exercise all reasonable care in handling the works submitted, but will not be responsible for the loss of or any damage to any works while in the custody of the Organisers. Insurance against damage, fire and theft on individual works whilst in the Organiser's custody or in transit is the Artist’s responsibility.

  16. The Organisers shall have the right to photograph work and publish those photographs for publicity purposes.

  17. Artists must complete the GST declaration on the entry form. Any applicable GST on the sale of a painting is the Artist's responsibility. All marked prices are to be inclusive of any GST where applicable. Prizes won by Professional Artists who are registered for GST will include the applicable GST amount in addition to the published competition prize amount.

  18. If a painting that has been submitted on the Entry Form has been sold by the Artist prior to the Exhibition, a substitute work may be entered in its place. No penalty or additional fee will apply.

  19. All awards are acquisitive unless otherwise stated. The Organisers reserve the right to put up for sale any award painting should the sponsor wish to not accept the painting.
